Physical therapy uses hands-on treatment and guided exercise to restore movement and strength after an injury, and to calm pain that keeps coming back. Quantum’s physical therapists work in the same office as our chiropractors, so one plan can use both, and new patients are usually seen the same day.
What physical therapy helps with
- Back pain, sciatica and herniated discs
- Neck pain, whiplash and pinched nerves
- Carpal tunnel and other strain in the wrist and hand
- Injuries from a car accident, a fall or work
- Sprains, joint injuries and recovery after a fracture
What a physical therapy visit looks like
The first visit is an evaluation. Your physical therapist measures how you move, how strong you are and where it hurts, and asks what you need to get back to, whether that’s lifting at work, climbing stairs or sleeping through the night. Together you set goals, and the plan is built around them.
Sessions then combine hands-on work, such as joint mobilization and soft-tissue techniques, with exercises your therapist guides and adjusts as you get stronger. You leave with a short program to do at home, and your progress is rechecked along the way. Physical therapy at all 10 locations is overseen by our Director of Physical Therapy, who still sees patients. Read what to expect at your first physical therapy appointment.
Physical therapy with chiropractic care and acupuncture
Many plans pair physical therapy with chiropractic care for the spine and joints, and acupuncture for pain, all in one location. When pain persists or a nerve needs testing, pain management and EMG/NCS are available through specialists who visit.
How physical therapy is paid for
After a car accident, physical therapy is billed to No-Fault; after a work injury, to workers’ compensation. Otherwise, we accept health insurance depending on your case, and self-pay.
