Hurt in a car accident? At Quantum Physical Therapy & Chiropractic Care we treat auto accident injuries, from neck and back pain to headaches and tingling down an arm or a leg, with physical therapy, chiropractic care and acupuncture. We bill your No-Fault insurer directly, and new patients are usually seen the same day.
If you have a head injury, severe pain, numbness or weakness, or trouble breathing, go to an emergency room first. If you were working when the accident happened, your care is usually a Workers’ Compensation case instead.
What to do after a car accident in New York
- Call 911 if anyone is hurt. New York requires the police to be notified right away when someone is injured.
- Report the crash to the DMV within 10 days on form MV-104 if anyone was injured, or if any one person’s property has $1,000 or more in damage.
- Notify the No-Fault insurer in writing within 30 days. When you call or come in, tell us it was a car accident, so your care is billed to No-Fault.
- Get checked soon, even if the pain is mild. Some injuries take hours or days to show. Read why pain can appear days after a crash.
- Keep your paperwork together: your claim number, the police report and any documents about the accident.
The DMV explains these rules in its guide to what to do after a traffic crash.

Chiropractic care and physical therapy after a crash
Care for an auto injury starts with an evaluation. Your provider sets a treatment plan with you and stays with you throughout your treatment. Depending on your injuries, the plan can combine physical therapy to restore movement and strength, chiropractic care for the spine and joints, and acupuncture to ease pain.
When pain lasts, or nerve symptoms need testing, pain management and electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCS) are available through visiting specialists. Orthopedic specialists visit every location, and neurology specialists visit most of them.
How No-Fault pays for your care
No-Fault, also called Personal Injury Protection (PIP), is part of every auto insurance policy in New York. It pays for necessary medical care after a crash, no matter who caused it.
- Whose insurance pays: the insurer of the vehicle you were in, as the driver or a passenger. If you were on foot, the insurer of the vehicle that struck you.
- What it covers: up to $50,000 per person in all, for your medical care, part of your lost earnings (up to $2,000 a month, for up to three years) and other necessary expenses (up to $25 a day, for up to a year).
- Motorcycles: No-Fault does not cover motorcycle riders or passengers. Our team will go over your other options with you.
